Romans 8 is the only chapter in the whole Bible which talks about God in Christ as the Spirit coming into us as the life-giving Spirit and mingling Himself with our spirit to impart life to our spirit (making it life, Rom. 8:10), to our mind (making it life, Rom. 8:6), and to our body (Rom. 8:11). This is God’s intention and His desire: God desires to work Himself into us as our life – He wants to impart life to every part of our being and make us His corporate expression in life. This is the focus of the Bible – God’s desire to work Himself into us as our life!

the divine life is the Triune God being subjective to us

What is the divine life, as seen in Romans 8? The life that is given to our spirit, soul, and body, is the Spirit – the consummation of the Triune God. Actually, the divine life, the Triune God, and Christ are one with and in the Spirit. This is the central focus of the universe and the center of the Bible, even the center of God’s plan – the processed and consummated Triune God coming into us to dwell in us as the Spirit in our spirit. This is the greatest miracle in the universe, and nothing else in the universe is more important than our spirit mingled with the Spirit as the consummation of the processed Triune God (Isa. 66:1-2; John 14:23; 15:4)! What can be more important than the Triune God being in us, living in us, and being everything to us as the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit? Praise the Lord for the Wonderful Spirit in us – the Spirit mingled with our spirit!

Saints, we should all be full of joy since the entire Triune God is indwelling us and is one with us! The Triune God as the Spirit is our life and our person, and He is making us His home (Eph. 3:14-17). If we see this, we will be super-excited – we will be happy Christians! Praise the Lord for Romans 8 – the center, the focus, of the Bible and of the entire universe! What we see in this chapter is very mysterious and abstract, but nonetheless crucial and focal to God’s economy. If we experience Romans 8, we are in the center of the universe! In this chapter we see that God Himself is life to our body, soul, and spirit – more precisely, “that the Spirit of life, the law of the Spirit of life, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, and the Spirit of the resurrecting One are all one in the Spirit, who is life to our spirit, mind, and body“. Wow, what a view of the Christian life and God’s intention!

Romans 8: the focus of God’s economy

We know God through His Word, which is His breathing out, His expression, the utterance of His heart’s desire. What did God desire in eternity past, before He created? What is God’s intention? In Eph. 1:3-5 we see that the desire of God’s heart in eternity past is to have a group of people into which He can enter, He could be their life and everything, so that they may be His corporate expression. Romans chapter 8 is an amazing chapter with much revelation and light! This morning we were enjoying several of the matters in this chapter like: minding the things of the Spirit (Rom. 8:5), putting to death the practices of our body (Rom. 8:13, 5), being led by the Spirit of God (Rom. 8:14), and crying, Abba, Father (Rom. 8:15). We need to see the way we can live the divine life in the human life– by setting our mind on the things of the Spirit, by putting to death the practices of our body, by being led by the Spirit of God, and by crying Abba, Father!

We need to mind the things of the Spirit by setting our mind on the things of the Spirit (Rom. 8:5-6; 1 Cor. 2:14) – these things are the deep things of God (1 Cor. 2:10-11) concerning Christ as our all-inclusive portion. We should not allow our mind to be absent, vacant, empty, wandering around, flying all over the earth – we need to learn to set our mind on the spirit and on the things of the Spirit! Romans 8 is the center of the Bible, and this chapter has so many wonderful and mysterious verses, packed with meaning and implications! Rom. 8:4-6 says, “That the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the spirit. For those who are according to the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but those who are according to the spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the spirit is life and peace“.

From verse 4 we can see that we are those who are walking according to the spirit. In us there are two substances or two ways of walking: the flesh and the spirit; we need to daily choose whether we walk by the spirit or by the flesh. The Lord’s recovery is not only the recovery of the truth in the Bible, of the Christian practices, the church life, etc, but it is also the recovery of our daily life with our daily living. This week we are getting into Romans chapter 8, which talks about our living, touching the center of the universe and being the focus of the entire Bible. The Lord’s recovery should not be characterized only by the high truth we speak and have, the wonderful Christian practices and church life, but also by our testimony in our daily living, in which we live the divine life in the human life daily.

In the beginning, the Bible speaks about God creating man in His image so that God would get into man to be one with Him in order that man may express and represent God. At the end of the Bible we see a consummation – God and man being mingled together as the New Jerusalem, the corporate expression of the Triune God! Our Christian life is not a spectacular life, filled with all kind of amazing and out-of-the-ordinary events, but it is a normal daily life under the divine dispensing. The Triune God has been processed and consummated so that in His Divine Trinity He may dispense all that He is into us – and this takes place in a daily way, in a normal way, and even in a fine and detailed way. As we turn to Him here and there, He dispenses Himself into us little by little, day by day, bit by bit, causing us to grow in the divine lifein a normal way!

not expecting spectacular days or results

Just as our human life, our Christian life is not filled with spectacular things or extraordinary experiences. On the one hand, from time to time, such experiences may occur, but they are not of a daily occurrence. We shouldn’t expect to have a spectacular time each day in receiving the divine dispensing. What is the focus of all the 22 epistles in the New Testament? Have you ever considered that there’s something deeper in the Epistles, like an underlying structure, a focus? I personally haven’t, to be honest, but by enjoying the morning revival on,The Focus of the Lord’s Recovery, especially week two, I have been so impressed with this… The focus of the Epistles in the New Testament is not doctrines, teachings, Christianity, working for God, outward practices, etc – the focus of the Epistles is the Divine Trinity for the Divine Dispensing!

This week in the Morning Revival we are in the second week on, The Focus of the Lord’s Recovery. Last week we really saw that the focus of the Lord’s recovery is the corporate expression of the Triune God, the testimony of Jesus! This week we are enjoying the focus of the Epistles in the New Testament, the Divine Trinity for the Divine Dispensing. What is the focus of all the 22 Epistles, from Romans to Jude? When it comes to the Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Spirit – many believers and unbelievers alike are very confused, saying, “This is something too high and too complicated – who can understand the Triune God? Maybe the theologians or the Bible seminaries students can, but it is too complicated for me…” – but we need to put aside this reaction, this concept, and be open to see more. In the book of Psalms we see a wonderful progression – which represents also the progression of the divine revelation in the Bible – and we also see the advance of the Lord’s recovery. The Lord wants toturn His loving seekers from religion to Christ Himself! Then this Christ is being enlarged and expanded to be the house of God, the dwelling place of God. This house of God must be strengthened and fortified to become the city of God, the kingdom of God. Eventually, it is through the church as the city of God that God will recover the whole earth! The Psalms talk about Christ, the house, the city, and the earth!

offering a consummate praise to God

A consummate praise indicates that this is praise at the highest and fullest level. The last book of Psalms has a section called, The Hallelujah Psalms – the psalmists just praise the Lord and utter one Hallelujah after another! This is the ultimate praise, even the universal praise! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! This is our service to God – offering a consummate praise to Him! Read more via,
