O Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth when we enjoy Christ and the church life!

the Lord's name is excellent in all the earth when we enjoy Christ and the church life! The last verse of Psalms 8 and the conclusion of this psalm is, “O Jehovah our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!” This short psalm speaks about God’s intention to join the earth to the heavens and to bring down the heavens to the earth, making these two one. For this, Psalms 8 speaks about Christ’s incarnation, human living, death, resurrection, ascension, and His being crowned to be the Lord and Christ and the King of kings, the unique Ruler in the universe! God has caused man – that is, Christ – to rule over all the works of God’s hands and has put all things under His feet. Praise the Lord Jesus! … Continue reading this portion via,

  1. Praise the Lord! I just started a blog and am posting about similar content. I appreciated we need to see the Christ in Psalm 2 to really see Him in Psalm 8. How, after God’s awesome declaration in Psalm 2 concerning Christ as the King, could the psalmist than plummet to moaning, crying, and grieving?! Christ is the center of God’s governmental administration in the entire universe! He is the KING!! Praise the KING!

Yet, in Psalms 3-7, David gets caught in his personal view of the earthly situation he is in. [side note: Psalm 1 is for the personal benefit of the saints; Psalms 3-7 are according to David’s human concept and for his personal interest]. Praise the Lord for His marvelous redemption which turns us from the earth to the heavens.

When we get to Psalm 8 the sky is so clear! The heavens are joined to the earth and the earth is joined to the heavens! How can we not forget about ourselves and praise Christ when He has visited man through His incarnation, human living, death, resurrection, and ascension in order to become the life-giving Spirit entering into man, recreating and regenerating man, sanctifying, renewing, transforming, and glorifying man! Now He is the Head of the Body and we are the Body of the Head! I appreciated the word “feet” in Psalm 8:6! Oh, we are the feet! The Body of Christ is composed of those in Heb. 2 who are being led by their Captain of salvation into glory!

Together, Christ the Head and the church His Body, will come back to take possession of the entire earth. At that time the kingdom of God will be established in full!

Until than what do we need to do? We just need to wait praisingly! If we have the foresight we will not be frustrated (Lord open our eyes more because we still get frustrated!) by any earthly situation! We know who the King is, what He has done, what our destiny is, and the destiny of the earth! The earth will be as excellent as the heavens!

“O Jehovah our Lord / How excellent is Your name / In all the earth!”

    • Praise the Lord, brother, and nice to meet you here online! The part with “wait praisingly” – not just wait, but praise the Lord while we wait – is so good! Today we are being perfected to praise the Lord – He is establishing praise / strength out of the mouths of babes and sucklings! Lord, make us this kind of people!
